Elon Musk vs. Jeff Bezos
For context: Musk is currently worth more than four Bezoses. The gap has widened by roughly $400 billion over the last 18 months, driven almost entirely by SpaceX private-market repricings.

Why Musk pulled ahead
Two reasons. First, SpaceX. Bezos's Blue Origin is a fraction of SpaceX's revenue, and SpaceX's most recent private-market valuation ($1.25T) is roughly 25× Blue Origin's implied value. Second, Tesla. Bezos has been a steady seller of Amazon over the last decade; Musk has held essentially everything in Tesla and the 2018 options. When Tesla 10×'d, the leverage of holding compounded.
Could Bezos catch up?
Mathematically possible — but it would require Amazon to roughly 5× and Musk to lose half his net worth simultaneously. In any plausible market state for the next 24 months, Musk widens the gap. The realistic competitive question is whether anyone, including Bezos, becomes the second trillionaire.
