How the rates are calculated
Each person's per-second rate is (current Forbes net worth × trailing 12-month YoY growth rate) ÷ seconds-in-a-year. Growth rates are calibrated against actual 2024–2026 stock performance for each person's primary holding (Meta, Oracle, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, LVMH, Berkshire).
Musk uses his live YTD rate from the live ticker. Forbes data refreshes every 30 minutes via Cloudflare Workers cron. The frame-by-frame animation is powered by requestAnimationFrame + direct DOM writes, so it stays smooth without re-rendering anything else on the page.
